International Judicial Conference on Cross-Border Family Relocation
Washington, D.C. (March 2010) |
In March 2010, the International Centre for Missing & Exploited Children (ICMEC) joined with the Permanent Bureau and the U.S. State Department to host an International Judicial Conference on Cross-Border Family Relocation. More than 50 international family law judges and experts from Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, Egypt, France, Germany, India, Mexico, New Zealand, Pakistan, Spain, the United Kingdom and the United States met to address the complexities of international family relocation in this world of international mobility of individuals and families. The conference attendees agreed upon a set of conclusions and recommendations, called the Washington Declaration, a document that we hope will help change the way the international judicial community views and addresses this serious and growing challenge.
The complete text of the Washington Declaration is available in English, French, and Spanish.
A special Edition of the Judges Newsletter was also published and is available in English.
